A band saw is used to do the ‘carving’. First, compound angle cuts are made at the ends so that the block fits between the two frames. Second, the fore-aft curve of the hull is cut into the block so that the top edge of the block conforms to the hull. Third, portions of the bottom of the block are removed so that the bottom edge also fits snuggly against the hull. Lastly, the top edge is beveled to be level with the beams. A corner on this block has been broken to accommodate the fillet between the hull and the frame. The block is ready to be glued in place.
