The rudder post has been fitted. It slips through a hole in the stern post down to another hole in the keel. This is not the authentic way of shipping the rudder but it is definitely the simplest. The post is a 7/8' aluminum tube with a 3/4" wooden dowel glued inside of it for added strength. Later, the rudder itself will be lag bolted to the post.
