 About the project

A close up of the scarf joints used to form the four lengths for the main lower mast.  These pieces are each 1 1/4" square and when glued up will form a 2 1/2" by 2 1/2" cross section.  The scarf joints are necessary because I'm working with 8' 2x4s since this is the longest length that I can conveniently rip in the garage.
