The fore lower mast is ready to be rounded. We'll use the same technique used for the fake masts, however, it will be applied much more carefully and accurately. We'll only show the construction details for the fore lower mast since the other 13 spars use exactly the same technique. Each of the four sides of the square tapered mast have been marked with two lines showing how much to take off the corners. The objective is to make the square into an octogon. By the way, the stubby square end is the heel of the mast and goes into the mast step previously fastened into the hull.
