 About the project

The structural parts of the fore top, a platform about a third of the way up the mast, are all made of oak.  The two main pieces, the trestle-trees, will sit on top of the cheeks that were just glued to lower mast.  The three other pieces, the cross-trees, support the top and serve as spreaders for the topmast rigging.  They are all notched together, here and on the original Leon, because there are many forces on the top in all directions and it needs to be rigid.
