The stern planking after 12 planks are on. Note that the last plank is doing a lot of curving and twisting. It is actually being bent in two directions – against the thickness of the plank like at the bow but also against the width of the plank which is more difficult. At the same time, the wood is being twisted. The wood does not like all this stress! |
