Down from the keel, 4 full length planks are laid with 4 stealers at the stern. At the stern, these planks have to twist 90 degrees from horizontal (the bottom) to vertical (the stern post) over a distance of about 3’. The wood is able to do this as long as it is only asked to bend in the thin direction at the same time. This is why the stealers are needed. |
