Coming further down from the keel the planks have now run into the first band of planks that were laid parallel to the rail. A taper is sawn into the ends of the new planks where they hit the first band of planks. The tongue on the upper most plank of the first band of planks is removed so that the new planks can be securely glued to that plank. |
