A test of the strength of the deadeye - chainplate combination. The three points I was most concerned with were, 1) the threaded joint between the lower deadeye and the brass rod, 2) the use of just three seizings when attaching the shroud proper to the upper deadeye and, 3) the attachment of the brass rod to the hull. The assembly successfully carried 82 pounds for a week. I need another test apparatus to go to higher weights - I'd like to take it to breaking.
